Draft General Plan Now Available for Viewing

The Draft General Plan is now available for viewing.

The City Council will review the General Plan at a public hearing on February 17 at 3:00 pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

The General Plan is the culmination of a comprehensive community planning process that started in 2008. It describes Rancho Cucamonga’s vision for the future and how that vision will be achieved through City policies over the next 20 years.

Seven Big Ideas

In anticipation of the Draft General Plan release, the City has prepared a newsletter that illustrates how the updated General Plan compares with the current General Plan.

The newsletter describes the following Seven Big Ideas:

  • Big Idea #1: The Plan is based on the Spirit of Rancho Cucamonga Guiding Principles.


  • Big Idea #2: The Plan celebrates a healthy Mind, Body, and Earth.


  • Big Idea #3: The Plan provides for a circulation system based on transportation choices.


  • Big Idea #4: The Plan incorporates policies that will meet or exceed State sustainability mandates.


  • Big Idea #5: The Plan emphasizes historic and neighborhood preservation as a core value.


  • Big Idea #6: The Plan envisions a Foothill Boulevard that is economically vibrant and environmentally sustainable.


  • Big Idea #7: The Plan is transparent and friendly to all users, and facilitates community participation.

General Plan Update Environmental Impact Report (EIR) Scoping Meeting

A public scoping meeting will be held on Monday, November 23rd at 2:00 pm in the Rancho Cucamonga Civic Center (Tri-Communities Room) located at 10500 Civic Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730.

The purpose of the Scoping Meeting is to present information regarding the EIR process and to receive public comments on information to be addressed in the EIR.
